Re: 20ED lahing 25.07.44 Narva ääres
@nrw44 - As usual, a very interesting and excellent presentation, which I read with great interest. A brief addition on my part: I interviewed Ustuf. Endel Balder (VB 7./Art.Rgt.20) many years ago, who mentioned to me that he had his VB-post in the Riigiküla area. On the evening of 24.7 he was calle...

Re: 20ED lahing 25.07.44 Narva ääres
Regarding the positions of the division, veteran Edgar Vösu told me similar information found in the report of the 2nd Shock Army when I visited the Narva River with him and a friend. Two or three lines, mines and barbed wire in front of the first line on the bank, concrete bunkers for the men to li...

His name was Silvio Järvise. However, I question whether he knew the whole company's equipment, usually the soldiers only knew the situation of the group (or platoon) he was serving with. It could also be that he misremembered, and that it was his platoon that lost the guns.

Re: 20ED lahing 25.07.44 Narva ääres
@nrw1944 Thank you for a very interesting and detailed summary of the 20.ED's battle on 25.7.44! I'm glad to see that you are keeping up the momentum! :) An addition from my side: I interviewed a veteran of 13./46 many years ago, and he mentioned that the company lost all its IG guns during the batt...

Re: 46. rügemendi 7. kompanii Auveres ...
I am including the rest of Vösus' letter here on the forum, in which he writes how he retreated towards Peeterristi. I visited the Narva River with Vösu in the summer of 2011, and he told me the same thing he writes in the letter. However, there is of course a possibility that he is misremembering, ...

Very interesting thread! I was in contact with a veteran, Uscha. Edgar Vösu, who served in 7./46 and in one of his letters to me, he writes the following about 25.7.44/Auvere: "Tervitus Rakverest Teile Hr Petter! Kirjutan Teile, enda mälestuste järgi, sellest mis toimus Narva rindel 25. juulist...

Tere! SS-Frw-Uscha. Eduard Lima (born 23.10.1900 in Sömeru) serving in 6./SS-Frw.-Gren.Rgt.45, was reported missing on 22.02.1944, and was found dead 16.3.44. The body was moved to the Heldenfriedhof (Heroe's cemetery of the division). I hope it helps and that you understand English (Muidu võin proo...

Somewhere I have some letters that Tähiste wrote about his service. I can try to see if I can dig it up.

Georg S.: the information about Maks Henn is wrong. He never served in the Feld.Ers.Btl.20! He served as Kp.Fhr of the 2./SS-Btl."Reval" (Einheit "Fischer"). Its also nice to see the personalfile of my old friend Robert Helde. I remember sending him his file after that I found it...

Nice photo. If my memory serves me right Tähiste served in the Feld.Ers.Btl.20? So most probably the officer is also from the same unit?

If my memory serves me right Ernesaks was MIA after the retreat from the Narvariver 25.7.44? my memory also tells me that Max Espre underwent training at the school in Piirita before the retreat from Estonia, and then attended to the Officercourse in Neuhammer?

Uscha (TW!) Aitäh for showing us the Soldbuch of Nerep. I remember seeing it at Nereps place before he sent it to uncle Leo.
Re Aule, he served as Dolmetscher in AuE20 in Klooga in the spring/summer 1944, this according to Aules widow who I interviewed many years ago.
